Mark A. Steffen, age 63, of Bluffton, passed away early Friday morning, Oct. 7, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Born in Bluffton on March 17, 1953, to Sherman and Lucille (Gerber) Steffen, Mark married Lori Gerber in Bluffton on Aug. 31, 1980; she survives.

Mark was a 1971 graduate of Bluffton High School and went on to graduate from I.P.F.W. with an associates degree in business administration.  For several years he was a John Deere dealer, alongside his father and grandfather, until 1988, when he opened his own real estate firm, Chalet Real Estate, which he has owned and operated since.  He also built and owned A-1 U-Stor in Bluffton.

He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and more than anything else, he will be remembered for the legacy of Christ he left with his family.

In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by two sons, Nickolas (Amber) Steffen of Bluffton and Bryan (Ashton) Steffen of Lafayette; a daughter, Javon Steffen of Bluffton; three granddaughters, Poppy, Lucette, and Fife; two sisters, Susan (Mark) Harris and Ann (Les) Isch, both of Bluffton; and his step-father, Richard Clark of Bluffton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, from 3:00 until 6:00 PM and Sunday, from noon until 7:00 PM, all at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.  Services will be held Monday, Oct.10, 2016, at 10:00 AM, at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.  Mark Gerber, John Reinhard, and Steve Ringger will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
