Schladenhauffen
May 20, 1925 – August 21, 2018
Luella M. Schladenhauffen, 93, of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 21, 2018, at Christian Care Retirement Community.
Born on May 20, 1925, in Adams County, to Fred and Katherine (Kipfer) Gerber, Luella married Everett L. Schladenhauffen in Wells County on Apr. 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2007.
Before her marriage to Everett, Luella worked at General Electric in Ft. Wayne, Steffen Hardware, Franklin Electric, and Wayne Knitting Mill. She later served as an LPN at Caylor-Nickel Clinic in Bluffton for 28 ½ years, retiring in 2000. She was also a homemaker.
Luella was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church where she was active with several volunteer groups. She loved to travel, enjoyed reading and sewing, and most of all spending time with her family.
Survivors include three sons, Gary (Nancy) Schladenhauffen of Craigville, Mark (Sue) Schladenhauffen of South Africa, and Keith (Dolores) Schladenhauffen of Francesville; a daughter, Luann Colitz of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Shirley Fiechter and Nancy (Keith) Honegger, both of Bluffton; two brothers, Roger Gerber of Paulding, OH, and Charles (Marilyn) Gerber of Bluffton; along with eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Luella was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Brock; a sister, Margarete Stoller; and a brother, Dale Gerber.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, from 1:00 until 8:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 23rd, at 10:00 AM, at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Steve Ringger and Ryan Bertsch will officiate. Burial will follow at Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Christian Care Retirement Community.
