She was born May 24, 1938, in Adams County to Joel M. Schwartz and Sarah Nussbaum Schwartz. She married Vernon L. Geisel in Bluffton, in the home of Samuel Aeschliman, Aug. 3, 1958; he preceded her in death Oct. 13, 2011.
She graduated from Berne French High School in 1956. She was a bus driver for 31 years at Southern Wells, retiring in 2004. She also worked with her husband, running the family dairy operation. Luella enjoyed helping with her family farm, traveling, visiting flea markets, and spending time with family.
She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, and the JT5 Homemakers Club for more than 30 years.
Survivors include three sons, Tim (Donna) Geisel of Bluffton, Jeff (Denise) Geisel of Geneva, and Tadd (Heidi) Geisel of Berne; a daughter, Shauna (Rod) Roesler of Vincennes; a sister, Mildred Schladenhauffen of Bluffton; a brother, Lester (Sally) Schwartz of Berne; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Schwartz of Bluffton; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; three step-great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild due in June.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Kenneth Schwartz.
A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Apostolic Christian Church East, with Lynn Fiechter and Mark Gerber officiating. Calling hours are from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
