Liza Miller, 85, of Bluffton, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Busy, Ky., to George W. Hurt and Susan "Alice" Combs Hurt. She married Milburn Miller Oct. 24, 1944, in Pigeon Roost, Ky.; he preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2011. Mrs. Miller worked for Franklin Electric for 32 years, where she was also active with the union and helped to organize it. She was also a member of the Bluffton Church of Christ. She was a doting grandmother and an avid bowler. She was also very proud of her Cherokee heritage. Surviving relatives include two sons, Bill (Gloria) Miller of Bluffton and Bob (Carissa) Miller of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Pat (Dave) Piety of Bluffton, Jackie Harris of Bluffton and Mildred "Tooter" (Stuart) Studebaker of Sidney, Ohio; one sister, Doshie Everidge of Angola; and 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 14 great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Elizabeth Miller who passed away in 1995; two sisters, Cora Hurt and Clara Begley; and five brothers, Woodson, Johnny, Elhannon, Logan and Earshel Hurt. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Jason Studebaker will officiate, assisted by Jeremy Miller. Burial is at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to the Family LifeCare of Berne.
