Lillian M. Bertsch, 80, of Bluffton, died at 7 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Christian Care Retirement Community. Mrs. Bertsch was born in Wells County on March 18, 1930, to John J. and Lydia (Gerber) Fiechter. She married Walter W. Bertsch in Bluffton on March 4, 1956; he survives. A 1948 graduate of Lancaster High School, Mrs. Bertsch was a homemaker, and also worked as a bookkeeper at Franklin Electric for 10 years. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Surviving relatives include two sons, Lonnie (Pat) Bertsch of Decatur and Tom (Brenda) Bertsch of Bluffton; two daughters, Jodi (Jeff) Towle of Ossian and Jeanne (Wayne) Steffen of Decatur; one sister, Doris (Charles) Neuenschwander of Bluffton; two brothers, Dale (Doris) Fiechter of Bluffton and Gerald (Eunice) Fiechter of Craigville; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Bertsch was preceded in death by five sisters, Alice Aschliman, Velma Kipfer, Marie Drayer, Mildred Neuenschwander and Irene Reinhard; and two brothers, Ervin Fiechter and John Fiechter. Calling hours will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and from 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at the Apostolic Christian Church East. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at the church with John Reinhard and Ron Kipfer officiating. Burial is at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Christian Care Retirement Community.
