Lew was born in Indianapolis on July 11, 1946 and was shortly thereafter adopted by Herbert and Mary Olive (Barron) Hubble.  He married Eloise A. "Ellie" Hirn in Mendon, OH, on Sept. 24, 1967; she survives.

A 1964 graduate of Spencerville High School, Lew served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1969.  He retired from the Kmart Distribution Center in Manteno, IL, in 2009, after 44 years of service.

Lew was a member of Covenant Chapel Church in Bluffton, the American Legion Post 111, and Gideons International.  He retired from the US Army Reserve in 1990 and was a life member of the VFW 6772 of Spencerville, OH, and life member of the DAV.  He and Ellie fostered several girls in years past.  His hobbies included camping, playing Solitaire on the computer, and earlier in life he enjoyed riding motorcycles.  He will be remembered as someone who "never knew a stranger."

In addition to his wife, Lew is survived by a son, Dale J. (Angie) Hubble of Bluffton; two grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Anderson and Brian Hubble; three great-grandchildren, Lexie, Sadie, and Andrew Anderson; two brothers, David (Toni) Hubble of Tucson, AZ, and Rodney (Bindy) Nevins of Bloomington; and three sisters, Linda (Bill) Fast of Spencerville, OH, Donna Brand of Bloomington, and Sonja (Dan) Helms of Bloomington.

Aside from his parents, Lew was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna J. Hubble in 2017.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.  Services will be on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service.  Pastor Arley Higginbotham and Pastor Don Rentschler will officiate.  Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton with military graveside rites conducted by the US Army Honor Guard in conjunction with the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required at the visitation and funeral service.  We appreciate your cooperation.
