Lavera L. (Bertsch) Roberts, 88, of Brevard, NC, passed Saturday morning, Sept. 12, 2015, at Transylvania Community Hospital, in Brevard. Born in Elgin, IL, on Oct. 13, 1926 to Amos and Mary (Maller) Bertsch, she married William E. "Bud" Roberts in Elgin, IL, on Jan. 22, 1949; he survives. A 1944 graduate of Elgin High School, Lavera worked at Toastmaster in Elgin for 10 years and later worked as a sales analyst for Bud's company, Greggs - Roberts Appliance Company. Lavera is also survived by a sister, Goldie M. Stettner of Bluffton. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sylvan and Harry Bertsch, and a sister, Viola Friedman. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, with Phil Stettner officiating. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
