Obituary

Lamoine L. Springer, 88, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, with his faithful wife, Lillian Frances Hatfield, and family by his side at Christian Care. Lamoine's body had been failing, but not his love for his beloved wife. His last wish came true. She lay beside him, holding his hand, kissing his face when he passed. He will be remembered for his love of farming, raising eight children, and hard work in town and on the farm. He was an active member of Park United Brethren Church in Bluffton for many years and devoted his life to providing and serving where needed. He set an example of honoring God by resting on Sunday, tithing when times were tough, and serving where needed. He is survived by eight children, Lamoine (Betty) Springer Jr. of Round Rock, Texas, Steven (Brinda) Springer of Bluffton, Susan Dyer of Jacksonville, Fla., Sharon (Joe) Stroud of Markle, George (JoAnn) Springer of Bluffton, Max (Janet) Springer of Bluffton, Jack (Debbie) Springer of Bluffton, and Lilli (Keith) Arnold of Craigville. He has several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren who remember his love for the cabin, the woods, the swing, and the stories he would tell. He is also remembered for his tenacious spirit that would never give up when life got hard. He was in the Navy for four years and was stationed in Ottumwa, Iowa. Three of his sons followed his example and served in the Navy, and one son in the National Guard. He retired from Franklin Electric after 34 years of service and during that time he came home every day for lunch to be with his wife. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. His grandson, Kirk Winters will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ossian. Preferred memorials are to A Friend's House, in care of the funeral home. Lamoine is also survived by one sister, Geraldine Ladig. He is the son of George and Lavina Springer, who, along with one brother, Charles Springer, preceded him in heaven. During his full life, he endured the best of times and the worst of times. His family will never forget the tears he cried in his last days, the dreams he fulfilled for his family and the memory of how much he loved his wife. He sacrificed to give his family a good life and now his deeds live on through their life. Rev. 14:13 "And I heard a voice from heaven saying Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!' Yes' says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them."
