Kathy Ann Garner, 60, of Bluffton, died at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at her residence. Mrs. Garner was born in Bluffton on Feb. 5, 1951, to James F. and Beverly E. (Smith) Niblick. She married Ron D. Garner on Aug. 2, 1969 in Crown Point; he survives. Mrs. Garner was a beautician and from 1969 to 1975 was the owner of Kathy's Kut and Kurl in North Carolina. She also worked at General manufacturing in Bluffton and Wells Community Hospital. For five years she was a housekeeper, and she also worked for Dr. Merkle, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the O.D.O. Homemakers' Club. Other surviving relatives include her mother, of Bluffton; one son, Ronald J. (Tonya) Garner of Bryan, Ohio; one sister, Cindy (William) Priester of Bluffton; one uncle, John Smith of Bluffton; and four grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Elizabeth and Abbygale. Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Steven James Niblick, who died in 1992. Calling hours will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Epworth United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the church with the Rev. Richard Fredrick officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Preferred memorials are to the family.
