Aschliman
January 4, 1947 – January 23, 2021
Jonnie L. "Jon" Aschliman, 74, of Bluffton, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 23, 2021, at Christian Care Retirement Community.
Jon was born in Bluffton on Jan. 4, 1947, to Harold and Luella (Steffen) Aschliman. He married Nilah Schaefer in Bluffton, on May 6, 1973; she survives.
A 1965 graduate of Lancaster Center High School, Jon started working at the Dutch Mill when he was fourteen years old, parking cars for the Street Fair. He later worked at Kitco, Reimschisel Ford, and Franklin Electric. Jon then worked in maintenance at Bluffton Regional Medical Center for 33 years, retiring in 2014. He had great relationships with many of his co-workers, which continued long after retirement.
Jon attended Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton. Other than attending church, he also enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, recycling, and woodworking. He and Nilah loved visiting and spending time at Marco Island and Pine Craft, Florida.
In addition to his wife, Jon is survived by a son, Brett (Michelle) Aschliman of Ft. Wayne; a daughter, Nicole (Gary) Gray of North Canton, OH; eight grandchildren, Madison Aschliman, Dillan (Mariah) Gray, Devan (Katie) Gray, Morgan Aschliman, Mallory Aschliman, Daltan Gray, Daytan Gray, and Delayna Gray; a great-grandson, Kyle Gray; two brothers, Steve (Karen) Aschliman of Craigville and Bruce (Lisa) Aschliman of Ethridge, TN; and two sisters, Pam Aschliman of Ft. Wayne, and Yvonne (Rex) Myers of Sebring, FL.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, followed immediately by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Jon's brother-in-law, Bill Schaefer, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Adams County.
Visitors are required to wear masks during the visitation and funeral service at the funeral home. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we currently are only allowed a certain number of visitors in the funeral home at one time.
Memorial donations may be made to Loving Shepherd Cancer Redemption Fund or Christian Care Retirement Community Good Samaritan Fund.
