John T. Neuenschwander, 87, of Bluffton, passed away Monday morning, June 17, 2013, at Christian Care Retirement Community. Born on May 19, 1926, in Wells County, IN, to William and Lizzie (Schwartz) Neuenschwander, John married Irene E. Isch in Bluffton on November 20, 1949. Mr. Neuenschwander was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Along with being an excavator, John and his wife, Irene, were the former owners of the Snug Café in Bluffton. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Survivors include three sons, Randy J. (Judy) Neuenschwander of Berne, IN, Michael A. (Candace) Neuenschwander of Bluffton, IN, and Joe W. (Amy) Neuenschwander of Bowie, MD; one daughter, Linda K. (Jeff) McAfee of Berne, IN; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Lee Neuenschwander, one brother, and five sisters. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, 3220 East State Road 124, Bluffton, IN. Services will be held Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church East, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Doyle Frauhiger and Steve Frauhiger will be officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Adams County. Military graveside honors will be performed by the United States Army Honor Guard in conjunction with American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton. Memorial contributions can be made to the Apostolic Christian Church.
