John Michael Brown, 76, of Yorktown, and formerly of Bluffton, passed away Friday evening, July 16, 2021, at Yorktown Manor in Yorktown, IN.

Michael was born in Bluffton on Dec. 25, 1944.  His father, Donald E. Brown, and mother, Waneta M. (Kean) Koons, both preceded him in death.

Michael graduated from Bluffton High School and later from Ball State University.  He later received his master's degree from the University of the Americans in Mexico.  For most of his life, he was a real estate developer in the Chicago area. He enjoyed traveling the world and had several interests, including history and old cars.

Survivors include a brother, Larry (Suanna) Brown of Selma; along with one niece and one nephew.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his stepfather, Aaron G. Koons Sr.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 4:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Pastor Ed Armantrout will officiate.  Private burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton at a later date.
