The father of a Bluffton resident, John L. Bercot, 76, of Berne, died at 11:06 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. Bercot was born in Adams County on June 14, 1934, to Louis and Alice (Schaefer) Bercot. He married Betty L. Wenger in Bluffton on March 12, 1955; she survives. Surviving relatives include one son, Jeffrey L. Bercot of Geneva; two daughters, Debra (Nace) Romero of Morrison, Colo., and Rebecca Muhlenkamp of Bluffton; one brother, Chet (Penny) Bercot of Decatur; five sisters, Carol (Mike) McCalloch of Fort Wayne, Nancy Fark of Fort Wayne, Judy (Ned) Mitchel of Bryant, Harriet (Roger) Burkhart of Decatur and Sharon (Melvin) Burkhart of Decatur; five grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Mr. Bercot was preceded in death by one son, Joseph L. Bercot. Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at the St. John Family Worship Center, 2771 SE Mulberry St., Vera Cruz. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, at the worship center. The Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton is in charge of local arrangements.
