Jo Ann Huffman, age 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at Cedarhurst Senior Living of Fort Wayne.

Jo Ann was born on August 8, 1931, to the late Charles and Maida Schmoll of Bluffton, Indiana. Jo Ann graduated from Bluffton High School in 1949. She worked for Gordan’s Real Estate Company in Bluffton, Fruhoff’s in the engineering department in Fort Wayne and at the Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) in Camp Lejeune before moving to Fort Wayne. Jo Ann started working at Indiana University Purdue University in Fort Wayne in 1973 in the Admissions office and retired in 1993 after 20 years of service.

Jo Ann married Tom Huffman on November 8, 1952, in Bluffton, Indiana. They enjoyed raising their four children in Fort Wayne, spending time with family at Irish Lake, Tom’s family farm in Liberty Center and attending Purdue home football games. After retirement, Jo Ann and Tom enjoyed treasured time with their grandchildren, traveling, gardening, cooking and reading. Jo Ann was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic in Fort Wayne.

Jo Ann is survived by a son, Mike (Cindy) Huffman of Columbia City, Indiana and two daughters, Sara (Bob) Whitaker of Canton, Georgia, and Beth (Bob) Niedermeyer of Noblesville, Indiana. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Aside from her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Tom, and an infant son, a daughter, Ruth Ann Myers and her five siblings: Jayne (Tink) Crandall, Rosie (John) Burgess, Bud (Marian) Schmoll, Rene (Jim) Crandall and Sue (Dennis) Majors.

Visitation will be August 20, 2026, at Goodwin - Harnish Funeral Home, 3220 East State Road 124, Bluffton, IN. from noon until 2 P.M. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M. Fr. Theodore Ekwem will officiate. Private family burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton.
