Joan M. Clanin, 83, of Bluffton, died at 3:31 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Clanin was a self-employed beautician. She was a 1948 graduate of Bluffton High School. She was born March 4, 1930, in Vera Cruz, Ind., to Fred Wenger Sr. and Sarah Michel Wenger. She married Frank G. Clanin May 7, 1949, in Bluffton. Her husband survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Leslie (Frank) Brubaker of Plymouth, Ind., and Lona Taylor Clanin of Bluffton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Bercot of Berne; and two brothers, Norman Wenger of Decatur and Donald (Ann) Wenger of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lora Reisen; a grandson; two brothers, Fred Wenger Jr. and Harry Wenger; and two sisters, Dorothy Bacon and Mary Shaw. Calling will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
