Jerry T. Leimgruber, 90, passed away Sunday morning, July 26, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN
Jerry was born in Bluffton, IN on March 16, 1930 to Lawrence and Violet E. (Servis) Leimgruber,both parents preceded him in death. Jerry married Doris J. (Gilgen) on June 23, 1966 in Auburn, IN she preceded him in death on November 11, 2015.
Jerry graduated from Bluffton High School in 1949, following graduation he was drafted into the Army, where he served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He worked for IMI in Bluffton for 40 years, retiring in 1992 as a heavy equipment operator with the stone quarry. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 111 and past Legion commander in 1968, he was a member of the American Legion Post 253 at North Webster, IN for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Ted) Gerber of Zanesville, IN and Brenda (Thomas) Licking of Colorado; three sons, Scott Eisenhut and Shane Leimgruber, both of Bluffton, and Jody Eisenhut of Arizona, ten grandchildren and 18 grt. grandchildren. In addition to his parents and spouse, Jerry was preceded in death by 4 sons, Rick Leimgruber, Kim, Patrick and Tony Eisenhut.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, working on lawn mowers, building wood furniture and family fish fries.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday 9:00 AM until service time at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:00 AM with Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating.
Elks Lodge # 796 Bluffton, IN will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton, IN. American Legion Post 111 in conjunction with the United States Army will conduct Military graveside rites.
Memorial contributions may be made to Family Life Care Hospice, Berne, IN.
Following Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb COVID - 19 guidelines set forth by Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, face coverings will be required during visitation and services. We would like to thank those attending for their understanding and cooperation.
