Jerry A. Cobb, age 82, of Bluffton, passed away Sunday evening, May 13, 2018, at River Terrace Retirement Community in Bluffton.
Jerry was born in Bluffton, on September 17, 1935, to Hamblin B. and Lucille (Hupp) Cobb. He married Thelma Jean Milby in Bluffton, at Calvary Lutheran Church, on April 5, 1966; she survives.
A 1954 graduate of Bluffton High School, Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 until 1958. He retired from Franklin Electric in Bluffton after 39 years of service.
He was a member of the Grover Sheets American Legion Post 111, member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 242, and member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He was a lifetime member of the Circle W Riders Club and Wells County 4H Horse and Pony Club, where he served ten years as the leader.
Jerry enjoyed antique cars, raising horses, and most of all – spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by two daughters, Lisa (William) Toliver of Bluffton and Theresa (Tom) Roebel of Angola; three sons, Curt (Mary Jane) Cobb of Charlotte, NC, and James A. Cobb and Timothy Cobb, both of Ft. Wayne; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Jackie Reichard of Bluffton; and a brother, Jim (Mae) Cobb of Bluffton.
Aside from his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Cobb; and a sister, Betty Meyer.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 2:00 until 7:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. A funeral service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held immediately following visitation on Wednesday, at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Fred Hasecke officiating, followed by military rites by the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton. A private family committal service and burial will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
