Obituary

Jeffrey R. Zoll, 71, of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2021, at his residence.

Jeff was born in Bluffton on Sept. 3rd, 1950, to Robert D. and Mary Jane (Morrow) Zoll and for the most part lived his entire life in the Bluffton area.

Jeff grew up as a natural athlete, especially excelling in cross country where he was awarded many first place ribbons. When he wasn't running he could be found on the basketball court. In later life his banged up knees were a testament to his aggressive playing style. During the summers he would spend time with his family at their cabin on Irish Lake where he became an expert sailor.

As a young man Jeff immersed himself into a world of music and became a sought after drummer for several local bands including "Rootie Toot" which toured local clubs in several nearby states. Even late in life Jeff's encyclopedic knowledge of music including every one-hit-wonder band was legendary.

A 1968 graduate of Bluffton High School, Jeff went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Ball State University, with a major bachelor's degree in Anthropology and History.

After settling down Jeff got a job at a nearby Fleetwood facility where he soon became a production manager and worked for almost twenty years.
Like everyone Jeff's journey through life was not always smooth sailing and Jeff's life at times was more tumultuous than most of us could have endured. In the end though Jeff somehow retained his friendly and instantly disarming charm. He was genuine and kind and between those qualities, and his sharp intelligence he made friends in an instant. The Hideaway will be forever a little duller without him. He also will be grievously missed by his sister Rebecca in Arizona where he recently spent his winters and made many fast friends as well.

Jeff leaves behind three children; Naundus Schwartz of Bluffton, Bernard Zoll of Bluffton and Etta Harris of Poneto Indiana as well as thirteen lovely grandchildren.

In closing let me borrow Jeff's favorite salutation... "God luv ya." I'm sure God will. We sure do.

There are no services planned at this time. Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
