Jean Ann "Shorty" Lawhorn, 66, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 11, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Jean was born in Huntington on Apr. 8, 1957, to Richard and Treva (Morris) Douglas.  Her mother survives in Ossian.

Jean graduated from Huntington North High School in 1978.  She worked in the healthcare field for over 30 years as a cook and a CNA.  She loved to cook and especially enjoyed cooking for her family and her children's friends.  She also loved to play Bingo and loved her cat, "Bandit".

In addition to her parents, Jean is survived by a daughter, Heather Scott (Rob Schocke) of Kendallville; a son, David (Brandi) Lawhorn of Bluffton; a sister, Sharon Baker of Bluffton; eight grandchildren, Shaly Reed, Zarrdan Reed, Korben Page, Braydon Lawhorn, Natalie Lawhorn, Gavin Quackenbush, Gia Youngren, and Gracely Youngren; along with two great-grandchildren, Novaya and Athena Klarer.

Aside from her father, Jean was preceded in death by her lifelong companion, Richard Lanning; a sister, Bonnie Haler; and a great-granddaughter, Luna Klarer.

Visitation will be Friday, May 19, 2023, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, followed by a time of sharing at 7:00 PM.
