Jan P. Bertsch, 64, of Berne, died at 2:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. She was a 1966 graduate of Rockcreek High School. She had been employed at the Berne Community Market, retiring in 2011. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, sewing and making clothes, gardening, playing the piano, and solving jigsaw puzzles. She was born April 13, 1948, in Adams County, to Russell Wilkin Sr. and Jane (Miller) Wilkin. Her mother survives in Berne. Also surviving are two daughters, Joni Bertsch of Monroe and Angela Ringwalt of Berne; a son, Darin (Annie) Bertsch of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Kaleb Bertsch, Mara (Joshua) Myers, MaJena Gerber, and Makayla Ringwalt; a brother, Russell Wilkin Jr. of Nevada; a nephew, Shane Wilkin of Fort Wayne; and a niece, Tiffany Wilkin of Arizona. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Goodwin-Cale and Harnish Memorial Chapel, with Dr. Bryson Bell officiating. There will be an hour of calling immediately prior to the service. There will also be calling at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
