Jack W. Uptgraft, 81, of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 21, 2015, at Heritage Pointe in Waren, IN. Born in Petroleum, IN, on September 24, 1933, to Wayne and Elizabeth (Lash) Uptgraft, Jack married Janice Houchin in Bluffton, IN, on Oct. 24, 1952; she survives. Jack was a 1951 graduate of P.A. Allen Bluffton High School and retired from the Wells County Highway Department in 1995, after 20 years of service. He and Jancie spent much of the last twelve years enjoying retirement in Texas during the wintertime. Aside from his wife, Jack is survived by two daughters, Deb (Bill) Pursley and Jody (Randy) Gentis, both of Bluffton; three grandsons, Ryan Pursley, Randy (Gwen) Pursley, and Cory (Aimee) Lucabaugh; a step-grandson, Ryan (Lindy) Gentis; two great-granddaughters, Emery and Oaklee Pursley; two step great-granddaughters, Lily and Ella Gentis; and one brother, Charley (Dee) Uptgraft of Bluffton. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Uptgraft. Private family services will be held at a later date.
