Iris B. Owens, 90, a long time Bluffton resident,  passed away Saturday afternoon, Nov. 24, 2018, at her residence.

Iris was born in Wells County on January 22, 1928, to Alvin and Nellie (Bowman) Potter. She married Clifford W. Owens in Bluffton, IN on Nov. 2, 1973; he survives.

A graduate of Lancaster High School, Iris was a telephone switchboard operator with Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 25 years, retiring in 1979. Iris enjoyed ceramics, she collected salt and pepper shakers, traveling, and spending winters with her husband in Arizona.

Survivors include her husband, a son, Dennis (Paula) Deininger of Bluffton; a brother, James (Barb) Potter of Eloy, Arizona; two grandchildren, Derrick (Casey) Deininger and  Cara Deininger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris J. Castilow, Polly Myers and Wilma Meyer.

Per Iris's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. A private family graveside will be held. Burial will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian, IN.
