Irene J. Steffen, 93, Bluffton, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Born in Wells County on Aug. 12, 1919 to Levi and Mary (Heyerly) Frauhiger, she married Glennes E. Steffen on Mar. 5, 1950 in Bluffton; he died May 25, 1985. She was a homemaker and a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Survivors include a son, Allen L. (Carla) Steffen of Decatur; a daughter, Janice Ringger, Dectaur; a brother, Melvin (Lucile) Frauhiger, Bluffton; two sisters, Berniece (Alvin) Fiechter and Doris Fiechter, both of Bluffton; and six grandchildren, Anthony Ringger, Jessica Ringger, Vince Ringger, Erin Ringger, Emily Steffen and Tyler Steffen. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Ivan, Harry, Freeman and Homer Frauhiger. Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church East with Doyle Frauhiger and Mark Gerber officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin Memorial Chapel and Wednesday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
