Howard Vaughn Sr., 80, of Bluffton, passed away Saturday evening, Jan. 25, 2014, at Markle Health and Rehabilitation. He was born Feb. 5, 1933, in Harlan County, Kentucky, to John Vaughn and Ludie Wynn Vaughn. He married Hedy Lewis Jan. 16, 1954, in Jeffersonville; she survives. He worked for the City of Bluffton Electric Department as a lineman for 28 years, retiring in 1995. He worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad for 10 years. Survivors include three daughters, Ellen (Tim) Hobbs of Bluffton, Alesia J. (Mark) Hoffman of Murray, and Perlina Kay Kramer of Bluffton; three sons, Howard Vaughn Jr. of Bluffton, William "Bill"(Rhonda) Vaughn of Bluffton, and Neal (Cindy) Vaughn of Bluffton; two sisters, Grace Napier of Bluffton and Freida Joy of Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Howard Vaughn III; three brothers, Otis, Bill and Truman Vaughn; and one sister, Ola Mae Mercer-Hill. There will be a private family service with calling hours from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Grove Cemetery in Poneto.
