Born Dec. 18, 1921 to James J. and Karah (Stine) Smith in Union Township, she married Manes M. Levy June 4, 1939 in Vera Cruz; he died Apr. 2, 1991.

She graduated from Union Central High School in 1939 and was a homemaker and farmer's wife. She was also a social worker for ARC of Allen County for 20 years.

Helen was the last remaining member of the Craigville Evangelistic Church where she was a 50-year member. She taught at Kirkland Bible Institute for a number of years and was an artist, painter and seamstress. She was a member of the Bluffton Wesleyan Chapel.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Teusch, Ossian; a son, William (Claudette) Levy, Chicago; a sister, Alice Stewart, Hopkinsville, Ky.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James E. Levy; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn (Biberstein) Levy; a son-in-law, Richard Teusch; three sisters, Ruth Mosbarger, Maxine Ruple and Virginia Willig; and a brother, Edwin Smith and a granddaughter Claudia Revish.

Services will be held Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bluffton Wesleyan Chapel with Rev. Chad Clark officiating. Calling hours are Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel and Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Bluffton Wesleyan Chapel.
