Hazel Elizabeth Reed, of Bluffton, 86, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Heritage Pointe in Warren. Hazel was born March 9, 1928, in Grand Rivers, Ky., to Herman and Mary (Culp) Satterfield. She married Richard M. Reed in Bluffton Sept. 19, 1975; he preceded her in death Nov. 8, 2005. She worked at Corning Glass for 25 years. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" (Robert) Risser, of Bluffton; a son, Brian (Betty) Melton, of Poneto; a brother, Herman Satterfield; three sisters, Helen Terhune and Betty Arnold, both of Bluffton, and Shirley (Gene) Taylor, of Liberty Center; and four grandchildren, Jason Risser, Kari Risser, Zach (Emilee) Melton, and Ashley Melton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Tom, George and William Satterfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16 at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel with Pastor James Poling officiating. Calling is Monday, Dec. 15 from 2 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Family LifeCare or Alzheimer's Association.
