Harold A. Schladenhauffen, 85, of Bluffton, died at 6:55 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at Christian Care Retirement Community. He was born on Aug. 1, 1926, in Adams County, to Emil and Lilly (Fiesley) Schladenhauffen. He married Dorothy L. Kipfer on Feb. 16, 1947, in Bluffton; she preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2000. Mr. Schladenhauffen was the salutorian of his class at Kirkland High School and earned his degree from Purdue University. He worked for Franklin Electric for 35 years, retiring in 1984, and was the owner of Main Cleaners in Bluffton from 1984 to 2002. He also taught Sunday School for many years at the Apostolic Christian Church. Surviving relatives include three daughters, Mary Dean (Mike) Meade of Bluffton, Susan (Michael) Rauch of Fort Wayne and Joan (Mark) Schladenhauffen-Parrott; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Schladenhauffen was also preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, Warren, Charles and Amos Schladenhauffen; and three sisters, Edith Stultz, Clara Fiechter and Esther Aschliman. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at the church, with Nile Bucher and Mark Gerber officiating. Burial is at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
