Gladys L. Maller, 94, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 7, 2017, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Gladys was born in Wells County on Feb. 10, 1923, to Joel and Lucinda Baumgartner Fiechter. She married Robert J. Maller in Wells County on March 26, 1944; he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1989.
Gladys was a prayer warrior who faithfully served the Lord for 77 years. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. A lifelong homemaker who assisted her husband on the farm, Gladys was also a cook at the Dutch Mill restaurant in Bluffton for 25 years, and then later was a cook at Coppess Corner in Monroe, and then retiring from The Corner Depot in Bluffton, also as cook.
Gladys will be remembered as someone who never knew a stranger, and who enjoyed getting to meet new people. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include five sons, Larry (Gwen) Maller of Berne, Rod (Pat) Maller of Bluffton, Steve (Cindy) Maller of Bluffton, Joel (Denise) Maller of Bluffton, and Robert Jr. (Kim) Maller of Bluffton; a daughter, Barb (Gary) Schwartz of Bluffton; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin (Bernice) Fiechter and Wayne (Dorothy) Fiechter, both of Bluffton; and a sister, Justine Gerber of Bluffton.
In addition to her husband and parents, Gladys was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Case Maller; three brothers, Melvin Fiechter, Homer Fiechter, and Raymond Dale Fiechter (infant); along with two sisters, Devona Gerber and Ellen Stoller.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, from 1:00 until 8:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 AM, at the Apostolic Christian Church East, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Doyle Frauhiger and Ron Kipfer will officiate. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Christian Care "Good Samaritan Fund".
