Gladys L. Fiechter, 89, of Bluffton, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Christian Care Retirement Community. Mrs. Fiechter was born in Adams County on Feb. 29, 1920 to Joel and Saloma Baumgartner Schwartz. She married Walter R. Fiechter in Bluffton on April 14, 1940; he preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1983. Mrs. Fiechter retired after working for 18 years at the Dutch Mill Restaurant. She also worked at Heyerly's Bakery for many years. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Surviving relatives include three daughters, Linda (Mike) Dubach of Bluffton, Judy (Pat) Dubach of Indianapolis and Cathy (David) Bussell of Bluffton; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Yoder; and one son, Ted Fiechter. Calling hours will be from 1 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and from 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the church with Doyle Frauhiger and Ed Schwartz officiating. Burial is at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to the Christian Care Retirement Community, Family Hospice and Palliative Care.
