George R.
Duncan
February 22, 1930 – March 2, 2018
George R. "Bob" Duncan, 88, of Bluffton, passed away Friday evening, March 2, 2018, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Born in Wells County, on February 22, 1930, to Charles M. Duncan and Edna P. (Hartman) Duncan; George married Carol E. (Langel) in Bluffton, in 1951; she survives.
George served in the United States Army, from 1951 until 1953. He worked for the Wells County Highway Department for twenty years. He worked at Schwartz Plumbing from 1969 - 1989, where he later retired from. George was a 1948 Lancaster Central graduate and a member of First Baptist Church of Bluffton. He was also a Deacon of the church. George loved traveling, especially to Florida in the winter months and enjoyed building. He not only liked to build, he built their family home.
Additional survivors include four sons, Michael (Shirley) Duncan of Bluffton, Douglas (Kaylene) Duncan of Churubusco, Thomas Duncan of Fort Wayne, Ronald (Shari) Duncan of Bluffton; a daughter, Elizabeth (Ron) Martin of Wolcottville; a brother, James (Roberta) Duncan of Ossian; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Richard Duncan; four sisters, Clara Bell Steffen, Pauline Booker, Mary Ann Kumfer and Alice Osborn.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2018, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Les Cantrell will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, with military graveside rites provided by the American Legion Post 111 in conjunction with the United States Army Honor Guard.
