Gary W. Sliger, 70, of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, after an extended illness.

Gary was born June 6, 1946, in Bluffton to C. Eugene Sliger and Catherine E. Huss Sliger. He married Lori J. Lyons Sept. 3, 1998, in Las Vegas; she survives. He graduated from Bluffton High School in 1964.

He was an assistant manager of C&C Oil in Bluffton for 19 years and worked for Peyton's Northern for 25 years, retiring in August 2008.

Gary attended the Epworth United Methodist Church in Bluffton and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 111. He was an avid card player, and he also enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake.

Survivors include two sons, Scott (Rhonda) Sliger of New Haven and Jim (companion Robin Maidens) Sliger of Bluffton; one stepson, Andrew Bye of Bluffton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Don Addington of Bluffton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Michael Sliger on Oct. 8, 1982; a sister, Connie Addington; and a brother, Tom Sliger.

A private family service will be held at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. There will be no visitation. Burial will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.

Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
