Floyd W. Gerber, 98, of Bluffton, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton. He was born Sept. 30, 1917, with his twin brother, Lloyd, to Jehu and Lydia (Maller) Gerber in Adams County. A lifelong farmer, he served in the U.S. Army from August 1941 to October 1945. He was a member of Apostolic Christian Church. Floyd married Gladys Heyerly on May 27, 1945, in Bluffton; she preceded him in death on July 28, 2007. He is survived by three sons, Michael L. (Cheryl) Gerber, Leon (Pat) Gerber and Keith (Kay) Gerber, all of Bluffton; a daughter, Connie (Lyle) Kaehr of Decatur; a brother, Sylvan Gerber of Bluffton; three sisters, Leona Schwartz, Alice Schwartz and Josephine Schwartz, all of Bluffton; 15 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and two greatgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Gaius, Alvin, Lloyd, Truman and infant twins Edward and Edwin; and five sisters, Helen Gerber, Minnie Aschliman, Sarah Kipfer, Anna Isch and infant Dorothy Gerber. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Apostolic Christian Church East, with Mark Gerber and Chad Gerber officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Cemetery, with the United States Army Honor Guard in conjunction with American Legion Post 111 holding military graveside rites.
