Ethel D. Mills, 93, of Bluffton, died at 3:10 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at Christian Care Retirement Community. Mrs. Mills was born in Wells County on Aug. 9, 1915 to Harry G. and Lulu (Melching) Dustman. She married Wayne S. Mills in Vera Cruz on Oct. 14, 1942; he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2002. A 1934 graduate of Ossian High School, Mrs. Mills worked as a seamstress at Lautzenheiser Interiors, and was also a housewife. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Bluffton and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was active in the life of her church, serving as a deacon and elder. She served on many committees and was active in the JIO Circle and as a Sunday School teacher. Surviving relatives include two sons, Paul (Nicki) Mills of Bluffton and Max (Becky) Mills of Indianapolis; one daughter, Linda Mills of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Mills was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Roger Dustman; and one sister, Justine Hoopengardner. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton with Dr. Bryson Bell officiating. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to the church.
