Elmo B. Rieddle, 91, of Bluffton, passed away Saturday morning, August 16, 2014, at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton. Born on February 6, 1923, in Bluffton, IN, to Christian and Inez (Hottel) Rieddle, Elmo married Verna M. Linnett on June 15, 1947 in Tyler, Minnesota; she preceded him in death on March 20, 2005. Elmo was a lifelong resident of Bluffton. Elmo was a 1941 graduate of Bluffton High School and then served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II; later serving as a member of the Indiana National Guard at the Bluffton Armory. He had retired from Lincoln Manufacturing in Fort Wayne and was a member of the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton and the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2809. Survivors include one son, Christian L. (Debra K.) Rieddle of Ada, Michigan; two grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Rieddle; and one sister, Crystal Kleinknight of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M., at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. A funeral service will be held Friday, Augutst 22, at 10:00 A.M., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in rural Ossian, with Rev. William Brege officiating. There will be one hour of additional visitation prior to the service at the church. Military rites will immediately follow the service at the church, conducted by the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton, in conjunction will the United States Army Honor Guard. Burial will be held at a later date at the Danebod Cemetery in Tyler, Minnesota, next to his wife, Verna. Memorial contributions may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or to the Seminary Library Fund at the Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne.
