Ellen J. Tarr, 87, Dunkirk, died at 4:55 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Jay County Hospital in Portland. Mrs. Tarr was a 1939 graduate of Rockcreek High School. She worked for Meshberger Brothers for more than 20 years, retiring in 2003. She was norn Nov. 12, 1921, in Wells County, to Orlo and Hattie Wasson Harshman. She married Everett C. Tarr Nov. 12, 1939, in Uniondale. Her husband died June 16, 2005. Survivors include three sons, Alfred (Brenda) Tarr of Hamilton, Wash., Gary (Pam) Tarr of Portland, and Stanley Tarr of Kokomo; a daughter, Rebecca (Pat) Meade of Rochester; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dr. Ronald (Judy) Harshman of West Lafayette and John (Esther) Harshman of Anderson. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman Harshman, Paul Harshman, and Harman Harshman, and four sisters, Ethel Wolf, Virginia Frantz, Marjorie Hine, and Nondis Lash. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery.
