Eddie H. Myers, 89, of Bluffton, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Myers was born in Wolsey, S.D. on Feb. 6, 1921 to Frank and Ruby (Weeks) Myers. He married Edna Vaughn in Camp Chaffee, Ark. on July 23, 1944; she preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 2002. Mr. Myers served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1948. He retired from General Electric of Fort Wayne in 1983 after 19 years of service. He was a member of the Markle Church of Christ and had more recently been attending the River Christian Church in Fort Wayne. Surviving relatives include one son, David (Pam) Myers of Mishawaka; one daughter, Mary (Glen) Hendricks of Ossian; one sister, Alice Orrvarr of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Myers was also preceded in death by one sister, Edith Finan; and one brother, Wilfred Myers. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, and from 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Cleaveland officiating. Burial is at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Ossian, with American Legion Post 160 of Roanoke performing military graveside rites. Preferred memorials are to Riley Hospital for Children or American Legion Post 160.
