Earnest Lee "Earnie" Buchanan, 80, of Liberty Center, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 21, 2015, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Born on Jan. 31, 1935, in Lee County, VA, Earnie married Mary Etheleen Grover in June of 1958, in Bluffton; she survives. Together, Earnie and Mary ran the Liberty Center Coffee Shop for 20 years. He also worked at Corning Glass Works for 19 years and later retired from the State Highway Department after 19 years of service. Earnie was instrumental in founding the Calvary Chapel and then later the Harvest Time Bible Church, both in the Bluffton area. He enjoyed watching football and wrestling, and also enjoyed being outdoors cutting wood and ice-fishing. Aside from his wife of 58 years, Earnie is survived by one son, Terry Buchanan of Liberty Center; three daughters, Sheree (Allen) Lawhorn of Liberty Center, Tracy (Darrell) Reynolds of Ossian, and Christina (Derek) David of Bluffton; four grandchildren, Amanda Huffman, Scott Lawhorn, AJ Reynolds, and Gracie David. He is also survived by one sister, Syvoid White of Noblesville, along with several nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janie; a sister, Ruth Mounsey; and one nephew. Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2015, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held immediately following visitation at 7:00 PM, at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Robles officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
