Earl M. Stucky, 91, of Berne, a former resident of Monroe, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Swiss Village in Berne. Mr. Stucky was the former owner of Stucky Furniture; his family was involved in the furniture business for 81 years. He was a 1937 graduate of Monroe High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a medic from December 1942 until March 1946. He was attached to the 81st General Hospital. Mr. Stuky was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Berne, to Erwin Stucky and Martha Liechty Stucky. He married Marjorie M. Dotterer Oct. 12, 1940, at Monroe. His wife survives. Also surviving are a son, Steve (Carol) Stucky of Monroe; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Stucky of Monroe; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Fern (Ralph) Hannie of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick Stucky; a brother, Glen Stucky; and a sister, Erline Bluhm. Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Church East in Wells County. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Church East with Mark Gerber and Nile Bucher officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Chrisitan Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Swiss Village in Berne or to the Rick Stucky Memorial Enrichment Fund in care of the Adams County Community Foundation.
