Dorothy Kaehr Gerber, age 86, of Bluffton, went to be with the Lord, with her family by her side, Thursday evening, Oct. 25, 2018, at Christian Care Retirement Community.
Dorothy was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on July 5, 1932, to Elias J. Winzeler and Ida (Schlatter) Winzeler.
She married Charles E. Kaehr on Aug. 23, 1953 in Leo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1984. Retiring in 1988, Dorothy was a legal secretary at Dale – Gordan & Huffman Attorneys. For several years, she worked with the family farming business, and was a homemaker. Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Woodburn High School. She later graduated from Indiana Business College in Fort Wayne in 1952. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Bluffton.
Dorothy enjoyed attending her Happy Hour Pot Luck group functions. She enjoyed sewing, reading, shopping and gardening. She really enjoyed cooking and decorating birthday cakes. Dorothy was very devoted to her family.
Survivors include, two daughters, Shari (Mike) Fiechter of Ossian and Susie (Tim) Tonner of Bluffton; one son, Sam (Connie) Kaehr of Bluffton; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with three more on the way in November and March.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a son, Michael Ray Kaehr; three brothers, Raymond, Richard and James Winzeler; one sister, Viola Von Tobel.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, from 12:00 – 6:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral service will be Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM, at the Apostolic Christian Church East in Bluffton with one hour of visitation. John Reinhard and Ron Kipfer will be officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Amyloidosis Foundation or Family LifeCare.Visits: 0
