Doris Peterson, age 95, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 25, 2018, at Lutheran Life Village in Kendallville, IN.

Born in Allen County on Dec. 29, 1922, to Robert and Caroline (Felger) Lamle, Doris married Alfred Peterson in Ft. Wayne on Dec. 14, 1963.  Alfred preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1996.

Doris graduated from Carroll High School in Allen County and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Bluffton.  She retired from the State of Indiana Employment Agency in 1963, after 14 years of service.

Doris enjoyed the community and meeting people.  For 22 years she volunteered at the Foellinger – Freimann Botanical Conservatory gift shop in Ft. Wayne and she also spent many years volunteering at the Caylor Nickel Clinic gift shop and welcome desk in Bluffton.  She also even spent time volunteering at the Ft. Wayne Airport welcome desk.

Survivors include a son, Phillip E. (Kelly) Peterson of Avilla; a step-daughter, Karen (James) Snyder of Dallas, TX; and two grandsons, Eric and Evan Peterson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by a brother.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, with visitation prior to the service from 9:00 until 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home.  Pastor TJ Lynch will officiate.  Burial at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church.
