Donald O. "Don" Pulley, 79, a lifelong resident of Poneto, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Markle Health and Rehabilitation. He was born March 22, 1933, in Grant County, to Harry E. Pulley and Mary O. (Murray) Pulley. He married Alma Rush, Feb. 14, 1953, in Geneva; she survives. A 1951 graduate of Chester Center High School, Mr. Pulley served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, from 1953 to 1955. He worked as a machinist at Franklin Electric for 40 years, retiring in 1993. Other surviving relatives include one daughter, Sheila J. (Dean) Ullrich of Uniondale; two sisters, Darlene Twible of Montpelier and Rosie Anderson of Bluffton; two grandsons, Barry Martin of Bluffton and Bret Martin of Poneto; four great-grandsons, Evan, Jarrett, Aiden and Bryce Martin; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Martin; and an uncle, Bob Slusser of Van Buren. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with Chaplain Jerry Qualls officiating. Burial will be at Stahl Cemetery in Reiffsburg, with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimers Association.
