Donnie E. Bertsch, 46, of Dunkirk, IN, passed away Friday morning, July 17, 2015, at his residence. Born on October 25, 1968, in Bluffton, IN, Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Herman Bertsch Jr. and his mother, Betty Ann (Thompson) Holland. He married Melinda K. Steen in Poento, IN, on Dec. 31, 2008; she survives. He was a welder and a 1986 graduate of Bluffton High School. Aside from his wife, Donnie is survived by a daughter, Marissia (Thomas) Peek of Munice; a step-daughter, Mary (Will) Griffith of Anderson; a step-son, Clinton Byrley of Dunkirk; two grandchildren; two sisters, Amanda Coffield of Bluffton and Tianna (Mike) Rohwer of Omaha, NE; and two brothers, Dexter Bertsch of Bluffton and Michael Grover. Donnie was also preceded in death by two sisters, Amy Ginger and Angie (infant) and a brother, Lonnie Brinneman. Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2015, from noon until 2:00 PM, at Goodwin - Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, with a funeral service immediately following visitation at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at McFarren Cemetery, Poneto. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
