Obituary

Donald K. Addington, 74, of Keystone, passed away peacefully at his home at 3:55 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, after a 3 1/2-year battle with cancer. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked for Hulcher Emergency Railroad Service and Powell Bulldozing Co. He attended Petroleum High School and also attended Trinity Life Chapel. He was an Army veteran, serving from October of 1961 to November of 1967. He was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Scott County, Va., to George L. Addington and Haskell H. Brickley. He married Phyllis "Judy" Chenoweth July 3, 1960, in Montpelier; his wife survives. Other survivors include a son, Denny (Joy) Addington of Bluffton; a daughter, Amy Addington of Keystone; three grandchildren, Ashley Ann Addington, Carson Donald Addington, and Ace Levi Addington; a brother, George (Diana) Addington Jr. of Keystone; and a sister, Vesta L. (John) Hartnegal of Pigeon Forge, Tenn. His parents preceded him in death. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, at the Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Terry Werst and Ernie Addington officiating. Burial will be at the Alberson Cemetery, with the American Legion and the U.S. Army conducting graveside military rites. Calling will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or to Trinity Life Chapel.
