Obituary

Denver Amburgey, 79, of Bluffton, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 24, 2018, at Signature Healthcare in Bluffton.

Denver was born in Omaha, KY, on June 4. 1939, to Garland and Ada (Blair) Amburgey.  He married Janet Hammond in Knott County, KY, on May 12, 1962; she survives.

Denver was a cabinet maker and started working at Esty Piano in Bluffton, where he worked for over ten years.  He then went to work at Giant Cabinets in Ft. Wayne until he founded his own cabinet company in Bluffton in 1975, Amburgey Custom Cabinets, which he operated until his retirement in 1997.

He had several hobbies, including collecting many different items, hunting and fishing, watching television shows about hunting and fishing, and watching old westerns.  He also enjoyed college basketball and blue grass music.

In addition to his wife, Denver is survived by a daughter, Deb (Randy) Carson of Bluffton.

Denver was preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Amburgey; three brothers, Elmer, Winford, and Buford Amburgey; and a step grandson, Logan Jett Carson.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, from 2:00 until 7:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.  Services will be held Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service.  Steve Sutton will officiate.  Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton.

Memorial contributions in memory of Denver may be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
