Dennis W. Ladig Sr., 80, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at his home.
He was born May 28, 1936, in Wells County to Lawrence and Bessie Huston Ladig. He married Geraldine S. Springer June 14, 1956; she survives.
He began work at age 10 as a pin setter at a bowling alley in New Haven and graduated in 1954 from New Haven High School. He retired after 41 years from Franklin Electric in Bluffton. He was a scout leader for 10 years for Troop 149 and also was a member of the Elk's Lodge.
He enjoyed relaxing and watching TV and also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He was "quick-witted" and liked to joke with people.
He is survived by three daughters, Johanna Beahrs of Ossian, Jada Ladig of Bluffton, and Jennifer Spaulding of North Vernon; seven sons, Daniel Ladig of Santaquin, Utah, David Ladig of Roanoke, Dennis Ladig Jr. of Angola, Darren Ladig of New Haven, Desmond Ladig of Ossian, and Joel Ladig and Josh Ladig, both of Bluffton; a sister, Caroline Wescot of North Carolina; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ladig.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, with Pastor Tony Robles officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 25, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date.
