Born in Bluffton March 18, 1942, to David R. and Mary (Plummer) Speheger, he married Sandi J. Abrams Oct. 10, 1964 in Wolcottville; she survives.

A 1960 graduate of Bluffton High School, he was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1968 and was a P.O.W. He worked at Corning Glass from 1969 to 1983 and then as a supervisor at P.H.D. of Fort Wayne. He also worked at Wal-mart. He enjoyed being outdoors and riding his Tri-Cruiser. He was a member of American Legion Post 111.

Survivors include two sons, David R. (fiance, Crystal Lutz) Speheger and Daniel R. (Kristen Gaskill) Speheger, both of Bluffton; two daughters, Shari (Jeff) Hook and Stacey (Kent) Biberstein, both of Bluffton; a sister, Elizabeth (Rex) Kraner of Bluffton; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and "Buddy," his canine companion.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4 at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bryson E. Bell officiating. The family will receive family and friends Saturday from 12 noon until the time of the service.

Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery; the American Legion Post 111 Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will perform military rites.
