David L. "Barney" Barnell, 71, of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday evening, Mar. 27, 2018, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Born in Wells County, on December 14, 1946, to Raymond A. Barnell and Josephine E. (Garton) Barnell. David was a 1965 graduate of Bluffton High School. David worked for Franklin Electric in Bluffton and Central Soya in Fort Wayne. He was also a relator with Oswalt Real Estate in Bluffton. David later retired from Lilac Lane Apartments as a Maintenance Supervisor in April of 2015. He attended Life Community Church and Sonlight Wesleyan Church. David enjoyed fishing, collecting model Corvette cars and truly loved being around others.

David is survived by one daughter, Deb Snider of Bluffton; a son, David W. Barnell of Bluffton; his loyal companion, Golden Retriever and Husky mix "Lucy"; eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren, with two additional great- grandchildren expected in the fall of 2018.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Ann Clark who passed away in Dec. of 2010. David is the last of his family.

Receiving of friends will be held Monday, April 2, 2018, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 PM at the funeral home, with Herb Reinhard officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made out to the family.
