David J. Abner, 60, of Bluffton, died at 7:25 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Abner had been employed at Peyton's Northern in Bluffton for 10 years as a lift operator. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was born Jan. 9, 1953, in Dowagiac, Mich., to Joseph F. Abner and Montez L. Robbins Abner. He married Susan Lee Crook July 17, 1998, at Decatur. His wife survives. Also surviving are five children, Brad (Sheila) Wright, David J. (Ame) Abner Jr., and Brenda Wright, all of White Pigeon, Mich., Joseph D. Abner of Huntington, and Caitlen Heckman of Bluffton; and nine grandchildren. A sister, Charlotte "Sherry" Hunsberger, preceded him in death. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Horeb Cemetery near Uniondale.
