Dale E. Meyer, 80, of Bluffton, died at 1:48 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Swiss Village. He was born in Bluffton, Dec. 6, 1931, to Jacob Meyer and Anne (Bucher) Meyer. He married Glenda Kaye Hari in Cissna Park, Ill., June 14, 1953; she preceded him in death Sept. 28, 1996. He married Sally Gerber in Syracuse July 17, 1999; she survives. A 1949 graduate of Lancaster High School, Mr. Meyer worked as a Financial Estate Planner for Lincoln Life for 42 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Other surviving relatives include one son, Greg (Bev) Meyer of Ossian; one daughter, Patti (Scott) Schwartz of Berne; two stepsons, Andy (Cindy) Shively and Tony Shively, both of Bluffton; one stepdaughter, Lisa (Kelly) Aschliman of Bluffton; two brothers, Robert (Lela) Meyer and Harold (Violet) Meyer, both of Bluffton; two sisters, Maxine (Truman) Worden of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Joan (Otto) Beer of New Paris; five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home with Kent Ringger and Otto Beer Jr., officiating. Burial is at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. The American Legion Post 111 in conjunction with the U.S. Army will perform military graveside rites. Preferred memorials are to the Alpen Rose Unit of Swiss Village.
