Charles R. "Charlie" Uptgraft, 84, passed away Wednesday morning, May 17, 2023, at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton.

Charlie was born on July 31, 1938, in Bluffton, IN. to William W. and Elizabeth (Lash) Uptgraft, both parents preceded him in death. He married Dolores D. "Dee" (Smethurst) in Bluffton on January 19, 1963, she survives in Bluffton.

Charlie was a 1956 graduate of P.A. Allen Bluffton High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. Charlie was the owner/operator of Uptgraft Welding and Fabrication located south of Bluffton. He was a member of the American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton, and the Old Fort Model A club. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed playing golf, working on his Model A car, being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; David (Kristina) Uptgraft of Ossian, and Mike (Cindy) Uptgraft of Bluffton, four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; William "Bill" and Jack W. Uptgraft.

In accordance with Charlie's wishes, there will be no public services. Private family burial will take place at the Stahl Cemetery, Wells County, IN.
